Pumpkin Patch 2009

We took little Ashton to the pumpkin patch on 518 and dressed him up in his Halloween costume for a photo shoot! He had a ball...he mostly wanted to play with the blades of grass between his toes, but we got a few good shots. Not many people could walk by us without telling us how cute he is! I love it!

Boys will be boys.

Tonight Ashton got his first fat lip. We were at Daddy's softball game and he was crawling around in the grass and made his way to the concrete. He sort of stopped in a spot where there were a lot of ants, so I was sort of nudging him with my foot to keep going...and he face-planted right there on the cement. He cried only for a second, but when I picked him up his face was covered with dirt and it was so gross. I tried wiping his face off, and as I was attempting that, I noticed that his lip looked a little swollen so I went to the concession stand to ask for some ice. It is better lit over there, and when i looked closer, it was blue and bloody! Poor little guy. I tried and tried to get a picture of it, but he either wouldn't sit still or he was trying to grab the camera. Very unsuccessful. It didn't seem to bother him that much...he's a tough little boy. I'm sure there will be many more of those to come! Crazy boy!

Ashton is 9 months old!

We took Ashton to the doctor today for his 9 month check up. He is 31.5 inches long and 27 lbs 10 oz. The doctor told me "People are going to ask you if he's 2, but you just have to tell him that he's just tall." Here are some of his milestones he hit this month:
-eating solid foods
-perfecting "pattycake" (clapping)
-waving bye-bye
-pulling himself up on furniture and starting to walk around it holding on

What a big boy he is! I have some pictures I need to download so I can post them!

"I didn't realize"

Nathan and i were looking at pictures the other night of when we were in the hospital right before and right after Ashton was born. I was complaining of what I looked like (as usual) and he said, "I didn't realize you looked that bad until I saw the pictures later!" Hahahahah! Because it's so true. One particular photo...he said, "Look how big your nose was! It was huge!" Very funny.

8 Months old!

Ashton will be 8 months old this Saturday! How time really does fly...it's pretty unbelievable. Here are a few things he has accomplished this month...

He has perfected sitting up even more.
He can go from laying on his tummy to sitting up.
He can patty-cake.
He is starting to pick up food and feed himself.
He has 2 teeth.
He can CRAWL!!!!!

It has been a big month for the little guy..he is practically growing up before our eyes! :) I can't believe in 4 short months he will be 1! What a big boy he is. I love him.

My favorite.

I think that my favorite thing now is being able to say, "When I was pregnant with Ashton..." and then fill in the blank. I love that I have my own story with him. He is 7 months old today and such a big boy! Last night I was giving him a bath and he reached up and grabbed the spout that the water was coming out of, and turned on the shower! I got soaked, but it was super funny. I can't believe it's been 7 months already!

It's not easy being...orange?

A couple of weeks ago, we started giving Ashton veggies with his cereal at dinnertime. First we started with sweet potatoes, next was squash and carrots followed. I started noticing the other day that his skin kind of looked a little jaundice, but I didn't really think anything of it. Yesterday I was looking at him, just thinking "Why in the world are his cheeks and nose orange?" and then it just sort of hit me. We have been feeding him nothing but orange veggies! So that has obviously affected him!!! We started some green beans tonight which he completely gobbled up so maybe that will even his skin tone out again. He is my good little eater.

Just a side note. Nathan was at worship practice tonight and had the car with Ashton's stroller in it. I wanted to go for a walk outside since it's sooo nice in the early evening, so my only option was the umbrella stroller that has been sitting in Ash's closet since my baby shower in October. I went ahead and got it out to try it, and he LOVED it. He looked like such a big boy. It's hard for me to believe he's going to be 6 months old on Monday. Time really does fly!
